The Compass

I made a compass. I put a sewing needle onto a refrigerator magnet. After waiting 24 hours for the needle to magnetize, I stuck it through a cork which I cut in half. When those two things are done our group made a bowl (which eventually broke) and put water in it, then put the cork which had the needle sticking through it into the water and it spun this way and that, then finally rested pointing north and south... which means its aligning with the north and south poles.

I love compasses. When you made yours, did you think about the magnetic correction?
